Abducens Nerve Palsy
Abducens Nerve Palsy is a condition that occurs when the sixth cranial nerve, responsible for controlling lateral eye movement, becomes damaged or dysfunctional. This can lead to difficulty in moving the eye outward, resulting in double vision or misalignment of the eyes, known as strabismus.
The causes of Abducens Nerve Palsy can vary and may include head trauma, tumors, increased intracranial pressure, or certain medical conditions like diabetes or multiple sclerosis. Treatment often focuses on addressing the underlying cause and may involve eye exercises, prism glasses, or in some cases, surgery to realign the eyes.
