AM3
AM3 is a CPU socket designed by AMD for its processors. Introduced in 2003, it supports the Athlon 64, Athlon 64 X2, and Sempron series of processors. AM3 allows for both DDR2 and DDR3 memory, providing flexibility for users upgrading their systems.
The AM3 socket is compatible with motherboards that have the same socket type, enabling easy installation and upgrades. It was succeeded by the AM3+ socket, which offered support for newer AMD processors while maintaining compatibility with AM3 CPUs. This made AM3 a popular choice for budget-conscious gamers and PC builders.
