ADCPs
An ADCP, or Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler, is a scientific instrument used to measure water currents in oceans, rivers, and lakes. It works by emitting sound waves and analyzing the frequency shift of the waves reflected off particles in the water. This allows researchers to determine the speed and direction of the water flow at various depths.
ADCPs are commonly used in environmental studies, hydrology, and oceanography. They provide valuable data for understanding water dynamics, sediment transport, and the effects of climate change on aquatic ecosystems. Their ability to collect data over large areas makes them essential tools for scientists and engineers.
