Aïd al-Fitr
Aïd al-Fitr is an important Islamic festival that marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting. It is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, the month that follows Ramadan in the Islamic lunar calendar. The festival begins with a special prayer called Salat al-Eid, which is performed in congregation, often in large open areas or mosques.
During Aïd al-Fitr, Muslims express gratitude to Allah for the strength to complete their fasts. The celebration includes festive meals, giving of Zakat al-Fitr (charity), and spending time with family and friends. It is a time of joy, reflection, and community.
