8th Duke of Argyll
The 8th Duke of Argyll, John Campbell, was born on June 18, 1833, and became the Duke in 1847 after his father's death. He was a prominent Scottish nobleman and a member of the House of Lords. The Duke was known for his contributions to the arts and his involvement in various social causes during the Victorian era.
He was also a significant figure in the Scottish Highlands, where he managed the family estate of Inveraray Castle. The 8th Duke was an advocate for agricultural improvements and played a role in the development of local infrastructure, enhancing the economy of the region. He passed away on May 2, 1900.
