7th Duke of Argyll
The 7th Duke of Argyll, known as John Campbell, was born on June 18, 1823, and became the Duke in 1847 after the death of his father, the 6th Duke. He was a prominent Scottish nobleman and a member of the House of Lords, where he served as a Conservative politician.
The Duke was also known for his contributions to the arts and architecture, particularly in the restoration of Inveraray Castle, the family seat. He was involved in various social and political issues of his time, including land reform and the welfare of the Scottish Highlands.
