5th Duke of Argyll
The 5th Duke of Argyll, John Campbell, was born on April 6, 1795, and became the Duke in 1847 after the death of his father. He was a prominent Scottish nobleman and a member of the Whig Party, serving in various political roles, including as a Member of Parliament.
The Duke was known for his contributions to the arts and sciences, particularly in the field of archaeology. He was also involved in the management of his extensive estates in Scotland, which included the famous Inveraray Castle. The 5th Duke passed away on May 24, 1878.
