2016 EU Referendum
The 2016 EU Referendum, held on June 23, was a public vote in the United Kingdom to decide whether to remain in the European Union (EU) or leave. The campaign featured two main groups: those who supported remaining, known as "Remain," and those advocating for leaving, called "Leave." The referendum resulted in 51.9% voting to leave and 48.1% voting to remain.
The outcome led to significant political changes, including the resignation of then-Prime Minister David Cameron, who had campaigned for the "Remain" side. The decision initiated a complex process of negotiations between the UK and the EU, known as Brexit.
