2011 Tsunami
The 2011 Tsunami was a powerful natural disaster that struck Japan on March 11, following a massive magnitude 9.0 earthquake off the northeastern coast. The earthquake generated enormous waves that reached heights of up to 40 meters (131 feet) in some areas, causing widespread destruction along the coastline.
The tsunami devastated several towns, including Sendai, and led to significant loss of life, with thousands of people reported missing or dead. It also triggered a nuclear crisis at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, resulting in radiation leaks and long-term environmental concerns.
