2. deild
The 2. deild is the third tier of professional football in Iceland. It operates below the 1. deild and is part of the Icelandic football league system. Teams in this division compete for promotion to the higher tier, making it an important step for clubs aiming to reach the top levels of Icelandic football.
The league typically consists of several teams that play each other in a round-robin format. The season usually runs from spring to autumn, with teams earning points for wins and draws. The top teams at the end of the season may be promoted to the 1. deild, while the lower-ranked teams face the risk of relegation.
