조선 dynasty
The 조선 dynasty (Joseon Dynasty) was a Korean dynastic kingdom that lasted for approximately five centuries, from 1392 to 1910. Founded by 이성계 (Yi Seong-gye), it is known for its significant cultural, political, and social developments. The dynasty established Confucianism as the state ideology, which influenced Korean society and governance.
During the 조선 dynasty, notable advancements were made in various fields, including science, literature, and the arts. The invention of the 한글 (Hangul) writing system by 세종대왕 (King Sejong the Great) in the 15th century is one of its most celebrated achievements. The dynasty ultimately ended when Korea was annexed by Japan in 1910.
