잔 다르크
잔 다르크, known as Joan of Arc in English, was a French peasant girl born around 1412. She is famous for her role during the Hundred Years' War between France and England. Believing she was guided by divine visions, she led French troops to several important victories, including the lifting of the siege of Orléans in 1429.
Captured by the Burgundians in 1430, Joan was handed over to the English and tried for heresy. She was executed in 1431 at the age of 19. Later, she was exonerated and canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church in 1920, becoming a symbol of courage and faith.
