양반
"양반" refers to the traditional Korean aristocracy during the Joseon Dynasty. This social class was characterized by their education, Confucian values, and land ownership. They played a significant role in governance and culture, often serving as scholars, officials, and landowners.
The 양반 class was distinct from the commoners, known as 상민, and the lower classes, such as 천민. Over time, the influence of 양반 diminished, especially during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as Korea underwent modernization and social changes.
