천민
"천민" (Cheonmin) refers to a social class in historical Korea, particularly during the Joseon Dynasty. This class was considered the lowest in the traditional social hierarchy, which included yangban (nobility), sangmin (commoners), and nobi (slaves). 천민 were often engaged in menial labor and faced significant social stigma.
Despite their low status, some 천민 were skilled artisans or performers. Over time, the rigid class system began to change, especially during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as modernization and social reforms emerged, leading to a gradual decline in the significance of the 천민 class.
