베트콩
"베트콩" (Viet Cong) refers to the communist guerrilla fighters in South Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Officially known as the National Front for the Liberation of South Vietnam, they aimed to overthrow the South Vietnamese government and reunify Vietnam under communist rule. The Viet Cong used unconventional warfare tactics, including ambushes and sabotage, to combat the more technologically advanced U.S. military forces.
The Viet Cong were supported by the North Vietnamese Army and received supplies and reinforcements through the Ho Chi Minh Trail. Their resilience and ability to blend in with the local population made them a formidable opponent. The conflict ultimately contributed to the fall of Saigon in 1975 and the reunification of Vietnam.
