鳥
「鳥」(tori) is the Japanese word for "bird." Birds are warm-blooded vertebrates that belong to the class Aves. They are characterized by feathers, beaks, and the ability to lay eggs. Birds can be found in various habitats around the world, from forests to deserts, and they play essential roles in ecosystems, such as pollination and seed dispersal.
There are over 10,000 species of birds, ranging from small songbirds to large birds of prey like 鷹 (taka, hawk). Some common examples include スズメ (suzume, sparrow) and カラス (karasu, crow). Birds communicate through songs and calls, and many species are known for their migratory patterns, traveling long distances between breeding and wintering grounds.
