薩摩藩
薩摩藩 (Satsuma Domain) was a powerful feudal domain in Japan during the Edo period, located in what is now Kagoshima Prefecture. It was known for its strong military and economic influence, as well as its unique culture. The domain was ruled by the 島津氏 (Shimazu clan), who played a significant role in Japanese history, particularly during the Meiji Restoration.
The Satsuma Domain was also notable for its involvement in the 薩摩藩と長州藩の連合 (alliance with the Choshu Domain) against the Tokugawa shogunate. This alliance helped to bring about the end of feudal rule in Japan and the establishment of the modern state. The legacy of Satsuma continues to be felt in Japanese culture and history.
