玉兔 (Yùtù)
玉兔 (Yùtù), or "Jade Rabbit," is a mythical creature in Chinese folklore often associated with the moon. It is said to be a companion of the moon goddess 嫦娥 (Cháng'é) and is depicted as a rabbit that pounds herbs to create elixirs of immortality. The Jade Rabbit symbolizes longevity and is a popular figure during the 中秋节 (Zhōngqiū Jié), or Mid-Autumn Festival.
In modern times, the Jade Rabbit has also been adopted in space exploration. China's lunar rover, named 玉兔 (Yùtù), was launched as part of the 嫦娥 (Cháng'é) program to explore the moon's surface. This connection between mythology and technology highlights the cultural significance of the Jade Rabbit in both ancient and contemporary Chinese society.
