東軍
東軍, or the Eastern Army, refers to a faction during the Japanese Civil War known as the Sengoku period. This group was primarily composed of samurai and their supporters who opposed the Western Army led by the Tokugawa shogunate. The Eastern Army aimed to restore the Imperial Court and was instrumental in the eventual rise of the Meiji Restoration.
The Eastern Army played a crucial role in the Boshin War, which took place from 1868 to 1869. Their victory in key battles helped to dismantle the feudal system in Japan and paved the way for modernization and industrialization. The Eastern Army's efforts significantly influenced Japan's political landscape in the late 19th century.
