春节 (Chūnjié)
春节 (Chūnjié), or the Spring Festival, is the most important traditional holiday in China. It marks the beginning of the lunar new year and usually falls between late January and mid-February. Families gather to celebrate with special meals, decorations, and various customs that symbolize good fortune and happiness.
During 春节, people often clean their homes to sweep away bad luck and decorate with red lanterns and couplets. The festival features activities like the Lion Dance, fireworks, and giving red envelopes filled with money, known as hongbao, to children and younger family members as a gesture of good luck.
