عزاداری
عزاداری is a traditional mourning practice observed primarily by Shia Muslims to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad. This practice is especially prominent during the month of Muharram, particularly on the day of Ashura, which marks the anniversary of Imam Hussein's death at the Battle of Karbala in 680 CE.
During عزاداری, participants engage in various rituals, including reciting elegies, performing reenactments, and holding processions. These activities serve to express grief, solidarity, and a commitment to the values that Imam Hussein stood for, such as justice and sacrifice. The gatherings foster a sense of community and remembrance among participants.
