Танабата
Танабата, also known as the Star Festival, is a traditional Japanese celebration held on July 7. It commemorates the meeting of two celestial lovers, Orihime and Hikoboshi, who are separated by the Milky Way and allowed to meet only once a year. During this festival, people write their wishes on colorful strips of paper called tanzaku and hang them on bamboo branches.
The origins of Танабата date back to the Chinese Qixi Festival, which was introduced to Japan in the 8th century. Celebrations often include decorations, traditional music, and dance, creating a festive atmosphere in communities across Japan.
