Стара планина
Стара планина, also known as the Balkan Mountains, is a mountain range in Bulgaria that stretches approximately 600 kilometers from west to east. It serves as a natural barrier between northern and southern Bulgaria and is characterized by its diverse flora and fauna, as well as its rich geological formations. The highest peak, Botev Peak, reaches an elevation of 2,376 meters.
The mountain range is popular for outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, and mountain biking. Numerous national parks, including Central Balkan National Park, protect its unique ecosystems and provide habitats for various wildlife species. The region is also home to several historical sites and traditional villages, showcasing the cultural heritage of Bulgaria.
