Семеру
Семеру, also known as Semeru, is the highest volcano in Java, Indonesia, standing at 3,676 meters (12,060 feet). It is an active stratovolcano, part of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. The volcano is known for its frequent eruptions and is a popular destination for hikers and nature enthusiasts.
The name "Semeru" comes from the Javanese word for "mountain." The volcano is considered sacred by the local Tengger people, who believe it is the home of their gods. Its last significant eruption occurred in December 2021, prompting evacuations and safety measures for nearby communities.
