Думы
"Думы" (Duma) refers to a legislative body in Russia, historically significant since the early 20th century. The term originally described an advisory council to the Tsar, but it evolved into a formal parliamentary institution after the 1905 Revolution. Today, the State Duma is the lower house of the Federal Assembly of Russia, responsible for drafting and passing laws.
The State Duma consists of 450 deputies elected for five-year terms. It plays a crucial role in shaping national policy, approving budgets, and overseeing the executive branch. The Duma's functions include debating legislation, representing the public, and addressing various social and economic issues.
