γαγγραινα
Γαγγραινα, or gangrene, is a serious medical condition that occurs when body tissue dies due to a lack of blood flow, infection, or injury. It can affect any part of the body but is most commonly seen in the extremities, such as fingers and toes. Symptoms include discoloration, swelling, and a foul odor from the affected area.
There are two main types of γαγγραινα: dry gangrene and wet gangrene. Dry gangrene typically results from reduced blood supply, leading to tissue death without infection. In contrast, wet gangrene is associated with bacterial infection and can spread rapidly, requiring immediate medical attention.
