Χάφεζ αλ-Άσαντ
Χάφεζ αλ-Άσαντ was a Syrian politician and military officer who served as the President of Syria from 1971 until his death in 2000. He was a key figure in the Ba'ath Party, which promoted Arab nationalism and socialism. Under his leadership, Syria experienced significant political and economic changes, including land reforms and the nationalization of key industries.
His rule was marked by a strong authoritarian approach, with a focus on maintaining power through military strength and political repression. After his death, his son, Μπασάρ αλ-Άσαντ, succeeded him, continuing many of his policies and facing ongoing challenges in governance and civil unrest.
