Αίγισθος
Αίγισθος, or Aegisthus, is a character from Greek mythology, known primarily for his role in the story of Agamemnon and Clytemnestra. He is often depicted as the lover of Clytemnestra, the wife of Agamemnon, and is infamous for his involvement in the murder of Agamemnon upon his return from the Trojan War.
In the myth, Aegisthus conspires with Clytemnestra to kill Agamemnon, seeking revenge for the death of his father, Thyestes, at the hands of Agamemnon's father, Atreus. After the murder, Aegisthus rules Mycenae alongside Clytemnestra until they are ultimately killed by Orestes, Agamemnon's son, as part of a cycle of vengeance.
