Îles Kerguelen
The Îles Kerguelen, also known as the Kerguelen Islands, are a group of islands located in the southern Indian Ocean. They are part of the French Southern and Antarctic Lands and are situated about 3,300 kilometers from Madagascar. The main island, Grande Terre, is characterized by its rugged terrain, glaciers, and a cold, windy climate.
These islands are uninhabited except for a small research station operated by France. The Kerguelen Islands are known for their unique biodiversity, including various species of seabirds and marine life. The region is also significant for scientific research, particularly in the fields of climate change and oceanography.
