Çernobil
Çernobil, or Chernobyl, is a city in northern Ukraine known for the catastrophic nuclear disaster that occurred on April 26, 1986. A reactor at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant exploded, releasing large amounts of radioactive particles into the atmosphere. This event is considered one of the worst nuclear accidents in history.
The disaster led to the evacuation of nearby towns, including Pripyat, and created an exclusion zone around the site. The long-term effects of radiation exposure have had significant health and environmental impacts, prompting ongoing research and monitoring in the region.
