{Teutonic Knights
The Teutonic Knights were a medieval Catholic military order founded in 1190 during the Third Crusade. Originally established to aid pilgrims in the Holy Land, they later shifted their focus to the Baltic region, where they aimed to convert and control local pagan populations. The order became known for its disciplined military structure and significant role in the Northern Crusades.
In the 13th century, the Teutonic Knights established a powerful state in Prussia, which expanded their influence across the Baltic Sea. Their stronghold, Malbork Castle, became a symbol of their power. The order's decline began in the 15th century, culminating in their defeat at the Battle of Grunwald in 1410.
