{Southern Patagonian Ice Field
The Southern Patagonian Ice Field is one of the largest ice fields outside of Antarctica and Greenland, located in the Andes mountains of Patagonia, spanning both Chile and Argentina. It covers an area of approximately 13,000 square kilometers and feeds numerous glaciers, including the famous Perito Moreno Glacier.
This ice field plays a crucial role in the region's ecosystem and hydrology, providing freshwater to surrounding rivers and lakes. It is also a significant site for scientific research, as climate change impacts are closely monitored here, affecting both the ice field and the local environment.
