{Kursk
Kursk is a Russian nuclear submarine that sank in the Barents Sea on August 12, 2000, during a naval exercise. The submarine was part of the Russian Navy and was equipped with advanced torpedoes. Tragically, all 118 crew members aboard lost their lives in the incident.
The sinking of the Kursk was attributed to a torpedo explosion, which caused the submarine to sink to a depth of about 1,500 feet. The disaster prompted international rescue efforts and raised concerns about the safety of aging submarines in the Russian fleet. The wreck was eventually raised in 2001 for investigation and recovery.
