ureteroscopy
Ureteroscopy is a medical procedure used to examine and treat conditions affecting the ureters, the tubes that carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder. During the procedure, a thin, flexible tube called a ureteroscope is inserted through the urethra and bladder into the ureter. This allows doctors to visualize the inside of the ureter and identify issues such as kidney stones or tumors.
The procedure can also be used to remove small stones or take biopsies. It is typically performed under local or general anesthesia and may require a short recovery time. Ureteroscopy is considered minimally invasive, often resulting in less pain and quicker recovery compared to traditional surgery.
