two-stroke
A two-stroke engine is a type of internal combustion engine that completes a power cycle in just two strokes of the piston, or one crankshaft revolution. This design allows for a simpler engine structure, as it combines the intake and exhaust processes into one cycle. Two-stroke engines are commonly found in small machinery, such as lawn mowers, chainsaws, and dirt bikes.
In a two-stroke engine, fuel and oil are mixed together and burned in the combustion chamber. This results in a more powerful output for its size, but it also leads to higher emissions and less fuel efficiency compared to four-stroke engines. Despite these drawbacks, two-stroke engines are favored for their lightweight and compact design.
