The squirrel monkey is a small primate native to the tropical forests of Central and South America. They are known for their distinctive yellow-orange fur, long tails, and expressive faces. Squirrel monkeys typically weigh between 1.5 to 2.5 pounds and have a body length of about 16 to 24 inches, excluding their tails, which can be as long as their bodies. These monkeys are highly social animals, often living in groups of 20 to 50 individuals. They are agile and spend most of their time in trees, where they feed on fruits, insects, and small animals.
