series circuits
A series circuit is a type of electrical circuit where components are connected end-to-end in a single path. This means that the same current flows through each component, such as resistors, light bulbs, or batteries. If one component fails or is removed, the entire circuit is interrupted, and all devices stop working.
In a series circuit, the total voltage is divided among the components based on their resistance. The total resistance increases as more components are added, which can reduce the overall current. This makes series circuits useful for specific applications, but they can be less reliable than parallel circuits in some situations.
