red squirrels
Red squirrels are small, agile rodents known for their reddish-brown fur and bushy tails. They typically measure about 9 to 12 inches long, including their tails, and weigh between 1.5 to 1.5 ounces. These squirrels are primarily found in coniferous and mixed forests across North America and Eurasia.
Red squirrels are excellent climbers and spend much of their time in trees, where they build nests called dreys. Their diet mainly consists of seeds, nuts, and fruits, and they play a crucial role in forest ecosystems by helping to disperse seeds.
