r-strategy
The r-strategy, or r-selected strategy, is a reproductive strategy observed in certain species that prioritize high reproductive rates. Organisms that follow this strategy tend to produce many offspring in a short period, with little investment in each individual. This approach is often seen in species like insects and rodents, which can quickly populate an area.
In r-strategy, the focus is on quantity over quality, allowing these species to thrive in unstable or unpredictable environments. By producing numerous offspring, they increase the chances that some will survive to adulthood, despite high mortality rates among the young.
