Homonym: pupils (Eyes)
Pupils are the small, round openings in the center of the iris of the eye. They control the amount of light that enters the eye, adjusting in size based on lighting conditions. In bright light, pupils constrict to reduce light intake, while in dim light, they dilate to allow more light in, helping us see better.
The size of the pupils can also change due to emotional responses or focus. For example, when a person is excited or interested, their pupils may dilate. This reaction is part of the body's autonomic nervous system, which regulates involuntary functions.
