planchette
A planchette is a small, flat board used in spiritual practices, particularly with a Ouija board. It typically has a triangular shape and a small hole or pointer in the center. Participants place their fingers on the planchette, which is then moved across the board to spell out messages from spirits or the subconscious mind.
The use of a planchette dates back to the 19th century during the rise of spiritualism. It is often associated with séances and other forms of communication with the spirit world. While some view it as a tool for genuine communication, others consider it a psychological phenomenon influenced by the ideomotor effect.
