pangolins
Pangolins are unique mammals known for their protective keratin scales, which cover their bodies. They are nocturnal and primarily feed on ants and termites, using their long, sticky tongues to capture their prey. There are eight species of pangolins, found in Africa and Asia, and they are often referred to as "scaly anteaters."
These animals are solitary and have a strong sense of smell. Unfortunately, pangolins are the most trafficked mammals in the world due to demand for their scales in traditional medicine and their meat in some cuisines. Conservation efforts are underway to protect pangolins from extinction.
