nasopharyngitis
Nasopharyngitis, commonly known as the common cold, is an inflammation of the nasal passages and the throat. It is usually caused by viral infections, with symptoms including a runny or stuffy nose, sore throat, cough, and sometimes a mild fever. The condition is highly contagious and spreads easily through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
Most cases of nasopharyngitis are mild and resolve on their own within a week or two. Treatment focuses on relieving symptoms, which may include rest, hydration, and over-the-counter medications. While it can affect anyone, children are particularly susceptible due to their developing immune systems.
