Muscle tissue is a type of tissue in the body that is responsible for movement. It is made up of cells that can contract, allowing the body to perform various actions, from walking to breathing. There are three main types of muscle tissue: skeletal muscle, which moves bones; cardiac muscle, which makes the heart beat; and smooth muscle, which controls movements in organs like the stomach and intestines.
Each type of muscle tissue has a unique structure and function. Skeletal muscle is under voluntary control, meaning we can consciously move it. In contrast, cardiac muscle and smooth muscle operate involuntarily, working automatically to keep our bodies functioning without us having to think about it.
