Homonym: modes (Methods)
In statistics, a "mode" refers to the value that appears most frequently in a data set. For example, in the set 2, 3, 4, 4, 5, the mode is 4 because it occurs more times than any other number. If no number repeats, the data set is said to have no mode.
In music, "modes" are specific types of scales that create different moods or feelings. The most common modes are derived from the major scale and include Ionian, Dorian, and Mixolydian. Each mode has a unique pattern of whole and half steps, influencing the sound of a piece.
