milia
Milia are small, white cysts that commonly appear on the skin, particularly on the face, especially around the eyes and cheeks. They occur when keratin, a protein found in skin, becomes trapped beneath the surface. Milia can affect people of all ages, from newborns to adults, and are generally harmless.
These cysts are often mistaken for whiteheads but are different because they do not contain pus and are not caused by clogged pores. Milia usually resolve on their own over time, but if desired, they can be removed by a dermatologist using safe techniques.
