magnetic resonance imaging
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a medical imaging technique used to create detailed images of the organs and tissues inside the body. It uses strong magnets and radio waves to generate images, allowing doctors to see structures without using harmful radiation. MRI is particularly useful for examining the brain, spinal cord, joints, and soft tissues.
During an MRI scan, the patient lies inside a large, tube-shaped machine. The process is painless and typically lasts between 15 to 90 minutes. Patients may hear loud tapping or thumping noises during the scan, but they can communicate with the technician throughout the procedure.
