lulav
The lulav is a ritual bundle used during the Jewish festival of Sukkot. It consists of three types of plants: a palm branch, two willow branches, and three myrtle branches. The lulav is held together and waved in six directions—north, south, east, west, up, and down—symbolizing God's presence everywhere.
During Sukkot, the lulav is often used alongside the etrog, a citrus fruit that represents beauty and the heart. Together, they are part of the mitzvah, or commandment, to rejoice during the festival, reflecting gratitude for the harvest and God's blessings.
