lobes of the lungs
The lungs are divided into sections called lobes. The right lung has three lobes: the upper, middle, and lower lobes. The left lung has two lobes: the upper and lower lobes. This difference in the number of lobes is due to the space taken up by the heart, which is located slightly to the left.
Each lobe is responsible for a portion of the lung's function, which includes the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide. The lobes are further divided into smaller sections called segments, allowing for efficient airflow and gas exchange throughout the lung tissue.
