laryngoscopy
Laryngoscopy is a medical procedure used to examine the larynx, or voice box, and the surrounding areas of the throat. It involves inserting a thin, flexible tube called a laryngoscope through the mouth and into the throat. This allows doctors to visualize the vocal cords and check for any abnormalities, such as inflammation, tumors, or infections.
There are two main types of laryngoscopy: indirect laryngoscopy, which uses a mirror to view the larynx, and direct laryngoscopy, which provides a more detailed view using a camera. This procedure is often performed by ENT specialists to diagnose and treat various throat conditions.
